Effects of local anaesthetics after continuous wound infusion for scoliosis surgery (multicentre study)

7.4.2. Min performing scoliosis

PD Dr. K. Min performing scoliosis surgery

The collaboration with the Anaesthesia Department of the University Children Hospital Zürich headed by Prof. Markus Weiss offers excellent possibilities for important clinical collaboration. Paediatric regional anaesthesia and pain therapy are of pivotal importance. Our collaboration offers also in basic research many important opportunities to investigate different questions of importance not only in paediatric but also in general anaesthesia.Different in vivo models are discussed at the moment and a research and collaboration plan will be established.

At the moment we are working together on one clinical and laboratory project (J. Aguirre, M. Kan, M. Weiss, A. Borgeat):

Continuous ropivacaine 0.3% infusion with the PAINfusor after anterior and posterior thoracic scoliosis surgery. A prospective, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-centre study.

  • Pharmacokinetics of local anaesthetics during continuous wound infusion
  • Effects of continuous wound infusion on pain management in adult and paediatric anaesthesia

This project was awarded by the Swiss Society For Anaesthesiology (SGAR) with a grant of CHF 20’000.
