EM-SCI (European Multicenter Study about Spinal Cord Injury)
Project 19 paraplegic centres from all over Europe are working together on the Balgrist University Hospital-led EM-SCI project, which aims to create a database providing a standardised description of the progression of spinal cord paralysis in the year following the initial spinal cord injury. Data have been collected for over 1,900 patients so far. This database can be used to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of new therapeutical approaches. EM-SCI has been ISO 9001:2008 certified since August 2010. The network has established and applies a Quality Management System for standardized assessment of spinal cord injured patients and evaluation of their medical course.
