Highly specialised surgery for bone and soft tissue tumours
Balgrist University Hospitals tumour specialists examine, treat and advise patients with bone and soft tissue tumours. Examination consists in coordinating clinical evidence, radiological imaging and, if necessary, tissue extraction, then giving a detailed explanation of the diagnosis.
Surgical therapy involves surgical removal of bone or soft tissue tumours while preserving the function of the afflicted body part. This is done in close cooperation with other organ specialists, depending on the bodily location of the tumour to be removed. If additional therapies (e.g. chemotherapy or radiotherapy) are required to treat a tumour, Balgrist University Hospital will organise and coordinate with the relevant specialists. Patients with malignant tumours are given intensive treatment and regular checkups (including imaging) to ensure optimal care.
