According to patients with tetraplegia, the recovery of upper extremity function has the highest priority. For this reason, we established several new projects that aim to (i) accurately assess improvement in hand- and arm function in patients with tetraplegia and (ii) improve function by investigating new exercise therapies that exploit neuroplasticity, for example with the upper extremity robots ARMEO (Hocoma AG, CH-Volketswil) or ARMin (SMS Lab, ETH Zurich in cooperation with SCI Research, Balgrist, UZH).
