Dr. Marth studied medicine at Justus Liebig University Giessen, graduating in 2019. He obtained his medical doctorate (Dr. med.) from the same institution in 2020. He subsequently completed his residency training in radiology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, followed by a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Balgrist University Hospital. He obtained his board certification in radiology from the Berlin Medical Association in 2025.

As part of his research activities, Dr. Marth worked as a Research Fellow at the Swiss Center for Musculoskeletal Imaging at Balgrist Campus and Balgrist University Hospital, as well as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, San Francisco.

His research focuses on musculoskeletal radiology, with particular emphasis on the identification of imaging biomarkers and the imaging of osteoarthritis. Another major area of research is the imaging of the musculoskeletal system using innovative imaging technologies, including ultrahigh-field magnetic resonance imaging and photon-counting computed tomography.

Dr. Marth has published as first author in leading radiology journals, including Radiology, Investigative Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology, and European Radiology. He has received the Anniversary Award and a Poster Award from the Swiss Society of Radiology, as well as research grants from the German Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology and the International Skeletal Society. He also serves as a reviewer for several radiology journals.

Musculoskeletal Radiology

The radiology team led by Prof. Dr. Reto Sutter carries out diagnostic imaging of the musculoskeletal system using a whole range of state-of-the-art X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI equipment. The team focusses entirely on the musculoskeletal system, making it uniquely experienced in this field in Switzerland. The radiology services are directly available for all our patients and for referrals from other doctors and hospitals.
