Therapy at Balgrist University Hospital
Our therapy teams are specialized in one or more orthopedic areas. Whether it’s after a surgical operation, following an accident or as a supplement to performance-oriented and prevention-oriented training: with our physiotherapy and occupational therapy experts you’ll be well looked after from the very beginning.
We work closely together with the doctors in our specialist orthopedics teams and centers to create a training and rehabilitation program for you. In doing so, we can make use of selected, scientifically based methods as well as modern therapy equipment and rooms.
Shoulder joints are the most flexible of all the joints in our body. The interplay between the bones, ligaments, muscles and tendons that provide stability and movement is accordingly complex.
Walking – for most of us this is the most natural way to get around. The lower limbs (i.e. the hip, knee and feet) must be intact. Bones, ligaments, muscles and tendons must reliably interact with one another.
Do you want to start playing sport again? Or walk up the stairs without being in pain? Do you want to get back on your feet after an accident or illness? Or prepare for your next competition with support from sports medicine experts? We’ll get you there.
The spinal cord is a fundamental part of our central nervous system and therefore indispensable for the proper functioning of our body and locomotor system. Paraplegia or tetraplegia therefore turns many things in life upside down.
Our spectrum of occupational therapy treatments goes beyond the physical complaints after an operation or illness. Our specialists give careful consideration to your private and professional situation. Activation therapy measures and targeted job training help you to develop, maintain or restore your ability to act.
The main focus of our treatment lies on reintegrating patients with spinal injuries into daily life. Our occupational therapists are part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team who concentrate on helping you to act as independently as possible.
We primarily help people with spinal injuries but also long-term inpatients to maintain and develop their physical, cognitive, social and emotional abilities. This is mainly achieved through therapeutic activities and exchanges within the group.
Balgrist University Hospital offers a varied health and sports program that is also available without a medical prescription. Our specialized therapists provide the ideal support to help you achieve your personal health and sports goals.
