Dr. Maniglio studied medicine at the University of Zurich, where he graduated summa cum laude at the top of his class and won the Elite Med Prize. He then completed his residency in orthopaedics at the University Hospital Fribourg and Inselspital Bern. At the same time, during a scientific fellowship at the Orthopaedic Biomechanic Laboratory in Long Beach CA, he deepened his knowledge of the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system and the wrist in particular. He then pursued his second specialization in hand surgery at the University Hospital CHUV in Lausanne and enriched his training with a clinical fellowship of the upper extremity and hand at the Hospital Italiano in Buenos Aires, Argentina and a fellowship in hand, wrist and microsurgery at the Toronto Western Hospital UHN in Canada. He is very active scientifically and has published over 40 papers (primarily focused on hand and wrist surgery) in renowned orthopaedic journals. In addition, he has given over 50 scientific lectures at surgical congresses and has written a book chapter on flexor and extensor tendon injuries in an orthopaedic textbook.
He is currently also active on the board of the Swiss Society for Hand Surgery.
