Activity therapy
Activity therapy supports, maintains and improves patients’ physical, cognitive, social and emotional abilities through targeted use of certain activities. It helps patients to find ways of spending their free time and motivates them to do meaningful and active things in their new living situation once they have left the clinic.
Activity therapy methods are used to allow patients to realise and build on their existing capabilities, and patients learn new skills to make up for capabilities that they have lost.
New friendships are made and existing friendships are deepened in the group. Shared discussions and two-way exchanges are a useful support for patients as they come to terms with their illness or disability.
