  • Rapid antigen test: Result is available within two hours.

Important
Please wear a mask upon arrival and bring an official ID and your health insurance card to the test.

Test result via SMS
If the test result is positive, you will receive an e-mail in addition to the SMS. If you have not received a message via SMS or email, please send us an email.

Registration for a coronavirus test

You need a Covid certificate?
We are now issuing Covid certificates for PCR and antigen rapid tests, it is mandatory to bring an official ID with picture to your appointment. Learn more here.

Important information

Does the test center issue Covid certificates for tested people?

Yes, Covid certificates for PCR and antigen rapid tests are issued at the test center. Please make sure to bring an official ID with picture (ID, passport or driver's license) to your appointment.

How and when will I receive the certificate?
The Covid certificate will automatically appear in your blue Covid Cert app after the test has been evaluated. For this, please enter your 9-digit transfer code during registration or at check-in. If you do not enter a transfer code or enter an invalid transfer code, the Covid certificate will be delivered by email.

Where can I find my transfer code?
You can create the transfer code in the blue Covid Cert app. At least app version 2.0.0 is required for this. The instructions and answers to frequently asked questions can be found in the Covid Cert app. Important: The in-app delivery code is valid for seven days only, after that it expires and you will not receive a certificate.

Validity of the certificate
For the duration of validity, please visit the FOPH website.

Important: Recovery certificates
The Dübendorf test center cannot issue Covid certificates for convalescents; this must be requested from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH): https://covidcertificate-form.admin.ch/.

Convalescent certificates are currently only issued for PCR tests. For more information, please contact the Coronavirus Infoline or visit the federal government's Covid certificate website: https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/de/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/covid-zertifikat.html

Where can I indicate during online registration whether I want to take a PCR or rapid test?

In case of symptoms of disease or contact with positive cases, the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) specifies which test is to be used. The check-in staff will inform you about this, it is not possible to choose the test.

For preventive, repeated testing of asymptomatic persons of companies, homes and Spitex, antigen rapid tests are used.

If you need the test for entry or exit or for your employer and you pay yourself, you can choose on the spot whether you want to do a PCR test or a rapid antigen test.

I am going on a trip abroad. When will I receive a travel certificate?

You will usually receive the test result via SMS directly from the laboratory within 24 to 48 hours. The travel certificate is created manually and arrives a few hours later. It will be sent to you by email as a PDF document.

Charging and payment arrangements

From Monday, March 15, 2021, Corona rapid tests will be free of charge for all people in Switzerland – regardless of the symptoms. Only PCR tests that are required for entry into another country will remain subject to a charge.

Furthermore, whether the federal government covers the costs of PCR tests depends on why you are being tested:

  • Costs for PCR tests are covered if, for example, you are getting tested because of symptoms, a report from the SwissCovid app, or official/medical orders.
  • Costs for PCR tests are not covered if, for example, you need a negative test result for a trip abroad.

Payment
A PCR test costs CHF 150.00, a rapid test is free since 15 March 2021. When you check in at the Test Center, you will be advised whether your test costs will be paid by the Swiss Confederation. If this is the case, we will settle the invoice directly with your health insurance scheme, and you will not need to pay any deductible or excess payment. If the test is being carried out for reasons that are not covered by the Swiss Confederation (see above), please pay direct at the test center. Payments can only be made by card.

Testing in companies, institutions and schools

Repeated testing
For repeated testing, see the website Testen in Betrieben, Institutionen und Schulen of the Department of Health (only in German).

Outbreak testing in schools
The test center offers outbreak testing in schools by order of the Elementary School Board/Contact Tracings. Interested schools should contact the relevant school medical service.

When does it make sense to make a test?

The coronavirus test center at Dübendorf can test people who:

  • Have symptoms that are characteristic of Covid-19;
    • at the recommendation of a physician
    • as a result of the coronavirus check carried out by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (the BAG)
    • on suspicion of an infection (after contact with someone who is Covid-19 positive; test on the 5th day after contact, at the earliest)
  • Need a negative test as evidence, so that they can travel to a country outside Switzerland;
  • Want to undergo a test.

Can I test my children?

We offer tests for children from the age of four.

The rapid antigen test is performed by nasopharyngeal swab, the test result is available in 2-3 hours. If a PCR test is performed, a PCR saliva test (spit test) is also available for children under 12 years of age. You will receive the test result in 24-72 hours. Cost coverage/payment is the same as for adults (see charging and payment arrangements).

Directions and opening hours

The test center is open from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please book your appointment via the online form. The test center is housed at the Air Force Center in Dübendorf.
