Drive-Through Coronavirus Test Center
The new coronavirus test center has been designed as a drive-through facility, with the aim of relieving the strain on existing test centers. We also offer rapid antigen tests.
Current evaluation time
- PCR test: Generally, the waiting time for the test result is 48 hours, but it may take up to 72 hours if the test volume is high.
- Rapid antigen test: Result is available within two hours.
Please wear a mask when you arrive for your test.
Test result via SMS
If the test result is positive, you will receive an e-mail in addition to the SMS. If you have not received a message via SMS or email, please send us an email.
Where can I indicate during online registration whether I want to take a PCR or rapid test?
In case of symptoms of disease or contact with positive cases, the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) specifies which test is to be used. The check-in staff will inform you about this, it is not possible to choose the test.
For preventive, repeated testing of asymptomatic persons of companies, homes and Spitex, antigen rapid tests are used.
If you need the test for entry or exit or for your employer and you pay yourself, you can choose on the spot whether you want to do a PCR test or a rapid antigen test.
I am going on a trip abroad. When will I receive a travel certificate?
You will usually receive the test result via SMS directly from the laboratory within 24 to 48 hours. The travel certificate is created manually and arrives a few hours later. It will be sent to you by email as a PDF document.
How does the coronavirus swab test work?
Allocation of appointments
Coronavirus swab tests will only be undertaken if appointments have been allocated in advance. Please register using the online form below and choose your preferred appointment time. You will then receive an electronic confirmation, free of any charge.
Requirement to wear a mask
Please wear a mask inside your car when you arrive for your appointment. Anyone who does not have a mask will be issued with one at the first checkpoint.
What you need to bring with you
Please show the confirmation of your appointment when you come to the test site. You must also bring an official ID document and your health insurance card with you.
Charging and payment arrangements
From Monday, March 15, 2021, Corona rapid tests will be free of charge for all people in Switzerland – regardless of the symptoms. Only PCR tests that are required for entry into another country will remain subject to a charge.
Furthermore, whether the federal government covers the costs of PCR tests depends on why you are being tested:
- Costs for PCR tests are covered if, for example, you are getting tested because of symptoms, a report from the SwissCovid app, or official/medical orders.
- Costs for PCR tests are not covered if, for example, you need a negative test result for a trip abroad.
A PCR test costs CHF 150.00, a rapid test is free since 15 March 2021. When you check in at the Test Center, you will be advised whether your test costs will be paid by the Swiss Confederation. If this is the case, we will settle the invoice directly with your health insurance scheme, and you will not need to pay any deductible or excess payment. If the test is being carried out for reasons that are not covered by the Swiss Confederation (see above), please pay direct at the test center. Payments can only be made by card.
Testing in companies, institutions and schools
For repeated testing, see the website Testen in Betrieben, Institutionen und Schulen of the Department of Health (only in German).
Outbreak testing in schools
The test center offers outbreak testing in schools by order of the Elementary School Board/Contact Tracings. Interested schools should contact the relevant school medical service.
When does it make sense to make a test?
The coronavirus test center at Dübendorf can test people who:
- Have symptoms that are characteristic of Covid-19;
- at the recommendation of a physician
- as a result of the coronavirus check carried out by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (the BAG)
- on suspicion of an infection (after contact with someone who is Covid-19 positive; test on the 5th day after contact, at the earliest)
- Need a negative test as evidence, so that they can travel to a country outside Switzerland;
- Want to undergo a test.
Please note that we do not test children under 12 years of age.
Can I test my children?
We offer tests for children of school age. Under 12 years of age, a spit test* is performed if possible.
*Due to supply shortages, we are unfortunately unable to offer spit tests at this time.
